Experience must include four years of performing data wrangling, processing and reviewing of returns, and reconciliations through Vertex Indirect Tax Returns software, and utilizing tax research databases, including CCH, LexisNexis, and BNA, to research state tax matters; mediating between clients and state revenue departments to resolve tax disputes, including state assessments and notices; researching and analyzing tax issues encountered on engagements, including state and local tax credits, source data validation, and changes in law requiring reporting modifications; analyzing client data files, reconciling calculations with client data, identifying variances and data issues, and providing clients with recommendations to mitigate data issues; assisting with multiple work streams and associated deliverableswork products through all phases of the client engagement lifecycle, including data validation, data analysis, software implementation, return processing, return review, notices management and engagement management; advising clients on state and local indirect tax issues, including sales use overpayments, prepayment requirements, reporting impact for nexus reviews, and voluntary disclosure return preparation; coordinating technology implementations and process improvements, including notice management, client communication, data visualization, advanced workpaper development, risk mitigation and efficiency tools; assisting with managing, developing, training, and mentoring staff on tax projects, and assessing performance for engagement and yearend reviews; and assisting clients with analyzing tax data, preparing accruals for posting into enterprise resource planning ERP systems and general ledger GL reconciliations through Blackline, and providing audit support packages for audit defense.
